The most exceptional and surprising hotel stay I have had in recent memory. The space is beautiful, every detail is stunning, you're instantly transported into a different time where things move slower and more comfortably. The sundries, the towels, the bedding were all sublime. A lovely continwntal breakfast. The Hemingway suite in the carriage house is strongly recommended. The host is exceptionally kind and welcoming. Booking over the phone was also a welcome pleasure with their team. I will absolutely be back and strongly recommend it to anyone spending time in Little Rock.
The wife and I stayed the weekend in the carriage house and had a simply lovely time. The room was clean and easily accessible. The staff was awesome, the house is a work of art filled with works of art, and they even have a small cathedral in the back. Parking was off street and literally right outside or room, making schlepping our items in and out very easy. It's location in the city make getting anywhere you may want to go very easy. We will definitely stay here again when we return.
Stayed here for a little getaway with some friends and it was completely magical! Got a chance to meet the owner and he told us the history of the house and showed us around a bit and my jaw was on the floor the whole time! It’s so nice to meet someone running a bed and breakfast like this that cares about the history of the building. Beautiful space and incredible care. Can’t forget to mention, it’s hard to find a true bed and breakfast these days So that’s such a fantastic touch! Can’t wait to stay here again.
If you love history, architecture, and unique places to stay, The Empress is an absolute gem in Little Rock. From the moment you arrive, you're surrounded by incredible Victorian craftsmanship—from the stunning exterior and wraparound porch to the beautifully restored interiors filled with period furnishings, stained glass, ornate woodwork, and elegant architectural details. Every room tells a story, and it's easy to appreciate the care that has gone into preserving this remarkable home. One of my favorite parts of the property was simply slowing down and exploring. Whether relaxing in one of the richly decorated sitting rooms, admiring the grand staircase, or wandering through the peaceful garden, there was always another beautiful detail to discover. The location is also convenient for exploring Little Rock's attractions, making it a wonderful base for a weekend getaway or an extended visit. If you're looking for something far more memorable than a standard hotel, I highly recommend staying at The Empress. It's a wonderful blend of history, hospitality, and timeless elegance that made my visit to Little Rock even more special. — Lenses & Latitudes
Edit to add: The owner personally reached out to me and extended his sincere apologies and even offered to rectify the issues specified in original review. Being a business owner myself, and knowing first hand that things happen, it is always important to own it and offer a solution. Great job on the follow up and genuine care for your guests. Also...it must me noted that the follow up was the very next day...here I am a month later adding this lol. Sorry my friend and thanks for standing on business!! Original review: Beautiful property. Absolutely beautiful! My only qualm is the lack of AC. We visited on a 85/90 degree day and the room was hot even with AC on. Doable during the day but I like to sleep comfortably. There was a ceiling fan but in order for the fan to be on, which would have been great, the light had to be on. The weird thing is the light that had to be on for the fan to work was in the sitting room. Bad wiring? Its an open floor plan so the light mattered. Other than that it was a very nice stay. Easy to access, great location and cool bit of history. We stayed in the carriage house for clarity.
The Empress of Little Rock was an absolutely beautiful and unforgettable place to stay. The historic Victorian architecture and elegant décor created a charming atmosphere from the moment we arrived. The room was spotless, spacious, and filled with beautiful antique details that made the experience feel unique and luxurious. The staff and hosts were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive throughout the entire stay. Breakfast each morning was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented, adding even more charm to the experience. I also appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and the relaxing outdoor spaces around the property. Everything throughout the inn felt clean, organized, and professionally maintained. This is a perfect destination for romantic getaways, weekend trips, and anyone who appreciates historic elegance and exceptional hospitality.
Wonderful bed and breakfast with elegant décor, comfortable rooms, and excellent hospitality. The property was clean, quiet, and beautifully preserved, and the homemade breakfast each morning was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend this place for couples or anyone looking for a unique stay.
The place was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. The home furnishings were antique’s and super cool to look at!! The bed was super comfortable & the shower was nice & hot!! However, since we checked in on a Monday there was no breakfast provided. Not even a muffin. The coffee in room was delicious & loved the Raw sugar. We would go back but probably make it a weekend.
My husband and I had a lovely stay! The Hornibrook Mansion (The Empress) is amazing!! The home is beautifully furnished and truly takes one back to another time. I loved reading my book in the library and wandering the common rooms downstairs. Our room upstairs also had a great soaking tub that was perfect for a bubble bath! The king size bed felt luxurious, and the gas fireplace was so cozy. Definitely want to return!
