Buffalo River Outfitters consistently receives positive feedback for their reliable shuttle service and helpful staff, particularly regarding navigating the river and accommodating families. While experiences vary, the majority highlight a pleasant and stress-free float trip experience. However, one recent review details a significantly negative experience involving equipment shortages and unhelpful staff.

We have rented canoes twice from Buffalo Outfitters. They pick you up from the landing area and take you to the drop point, you literally just float back to the car and leave the canoe at the landing. We have had very pleasant experiences both times. The river is a very beautiful and unique experience.

We were here to celebrate my friends birthday! The picturesque cabin was adorable and super clean. It was easy to get to and close to the outfitters and river so convenient! We had a great day on the river and it was beautiful. Service was great at Buffalo River Outfitters!! Highly recommend it!!

My friends and I stayed in a cabin owned by Buffalo River Outfitters and it was great. However, the river service itself was awful. We rented a 10 person raft for almost $500 because none of us were comfortable or confident enough to be in canoes or kayaks considering the water height and our lack of experience. After we checked in with some not very friendly people and drove 35ish minutes to the starting point, the workers didn’t have our raft at the location. They told us themselves that they didn’t like their job and to leave a bad review. They told us we can take a 5-7 person raft and 2 canoes or wait another hour for them to go grab our 10 person float since the office never told them they would need it. We had already been waiting for a while so we decided to take the canoes and smaller float. Halfway through we switched up arrangements because the people in the canoes were getting tired and uncomfortable. My boyfriend and I had to get in one of the canoes even though we had never been in one before. 5 minutes into it, we came up on a bend with a pretty strong current and a single tree dividing the river. Not knowing what to do, we tried to paddle out to the right of the tree but the current pulled us directly into the tree. The canoe hit the tree sideways and fully submerged and our paddles and life jackets started to float away. I grabbed the life jacket closest to me because I knew we would need it only to discover they sent us with CHILDRENS life jackets for kids 50-90 pounds (All 10 of us are between 17-19 years old). After standing in the canoe with very strong currents pushing into us for about 15 minutes, my boyfriend started to maneuver the tree that the canoe was stuck on and realized the canoe was fully bent in half. He pushed the tree down and the canoe flipped over and we had to jump out into the current. We swam sideways while getting dragged by the current and my boyfriend pulled me behind him because I wasn’t strong enough. We reached a tree and held on despite the currents. My nails ripped off from how strong the water was and how hard I had to hold on to the tree so as to not get taken by the water. From there our friends pulled us out of the water and onto the shore where we had to hike to their float and finish the trip with 8 people on a 5-7 person raft. We are very, very blessed to have come out of this okay and that it didn’t end up much worse for us. All of this is very upsetting considering NONE of it would have happened if we had gotten what we payed for and were told we were getting in the first place.

We had an excellent experience with Buffalo River Outfitters. The staff was incredibly friendly, the checkout process was quick and efficient, and they patiently answered all of our questions—even the crazy ones! The shuttle service was flawless. They safely relocated our vehicle all the way to the Riverside pickup point, which made our trip completely stress-free. Everything was handled professionally, and the team made us feel welcome from start to finish. If you're planning a float trip and want reliable service with great customer care, I highly recommend Buffalo River Outfitters.

I have used this outfitter three different times now. I enjoy their shuttle services, it's nice to not have to wait after a long day on the river for a bus or van, instead your own vehicle is right there! I highly recommend this outfitter!

We wanted to take our kids on the Buffalo for the first time and chose today as the day. We drove to Buffalo River Outfitters in Silver Hill without calling ahead hoping they could accommodate our large family. They were super friendly and helpful and found us the perfect mix of boats for our needs. They also helped us choose the best route for our children’s lack of experience. We ended up finishing the float in record time, and they allowed us to extend our trip to the next pull out with a simple phone call while we were still on the river. We all had a great time. Everyone from the front desk, to the guys at the launch and whoever drove our vehicle to the pickup were super nice and respectful. We will definitely be using this company again. A special thanks to Samantha for helping make our day a hit. Thank you all!

The folks at Buffalo River Outfitters were a wealth of information. We used their shuttle service for a 3-day kayak trip from Pruitt to Baker Ford. The ladies at the store worked with us to find the best route for the conditions/our goals, helped us download a map app and informed us about the stops along the way. Blake took our truck to the take out point and he was very patient and easy to work with. When we arrived at our final destination, they sent folks over to make sure we were good. We will definitely be using their services again!

This is the premier outfitter for your Buffalo River vacation. The cabins are tucked in the woods so that all the porches face only woods and between the orientation of the cabin and the distance between, it is very private. The cabins are exactly what an Arkansas River cabin should be; comfortable yet simple rustic. And the porches have a swing and rockers exactly as they should. BRO also provided our float trip and that too was great. They did all the work and we did the fun. We rented a tandem kayak and paid to have our car moved from the drop off to the take out. That was actually very nice because it eliminates waiting and bus rides. We put in when we wanted and went at our own pace. We had minor issues and they responded quickly and kindly, as a family owned business would. After driving around extensively, I can tell the reader for sure, this is the company you want to deal with for your Buffalo River vacation.
